THE GHANA ADVENTURE

VISION

The Ghana adventure cannot be described through words. The Calabash Hub will take you on a journey that you will never forget. In London most people consider certain aspects of life and material objects as a way of representing sucess and gaining respect for their peers and the people around them. By being part of the Ghana adventure it will allow the participants to see that material wealth is not the only way to enjoy life pleasures.Because of globalisation through the media, the negative representation, distorted views and name calling of Africa as being undeveloped or the third world is compared to the Eurocentric notion based on westernised presumptions of what constitutes to be developed. This notion has had, and can have a detrimental impact to ones ability to prosper as a nation of African and Caribbean people wherever they are located. By promoting and re-educating about African culture and international values that will be instated into the minds of the individual will not only eradicate the distorted images, but bring them back into a sense of worthiness in order to prosper mentally in their place of residence. We believe that all people have the rites of passage and should be educated in an environment where they have the opportunity to learn in ways that motivate, challenge and develop their interest. Increasing their knowledge, understanding, skills and provide them with the right attribute to succeed in education, work and in their personal life.

AIMS

Our aim is to take groups of young people and adults to experience life in Ghana for between 10 - 14 days, during this time they will be supervised by qualified and experience Youth Workers along with volunteers from the UK and Ghana.
