HEAD WRAPPING SALON.

Celebrating Our Crown initiative was endorsed as part of The LABS under the section theme Chale Wote Salon. http://accradotaltradio.com/.  The Head Wrapping Salon is a showcase, practical workshop and interactive discussion that celebrates identity, culture, spirituality, tradition and fashion through the wearing of a Head Dress.

THE CROWN
An introductory narrative on the history of headwear/dress from Egyptian Goddesses, 19th century to modern day fashion wear. The presentation will be based around the historical, practical and cultural aspects of head dress.

THE DEMONSTRATION
An interactive and practical workshop in the art of head dressing. Guests will be guided through a step by step demonstration from basic styles to creating elaborate head wear. Front to back method, back to front method, tying method. Using one piece to create different styles. The guests will thereafter can practice, enjoy and have fun whilst learning.

THE DISCUSSION
A selective panel of men and women coming together for a discussion that highlights on how the head dress has transpired through centuries and generations. Theme and topics based around ceremonial purposes, situation, enslavement, Diaspora, communities, religion, culture, spirituality, carnival and fashion. Q and A with audience participation.
