Looking for a restaurant with a twist of Caribbean flavours then look no further – Jerk Soul is the answer to all your tropical and authentic food therapy.

Proprietor Telie Woods took up the business opportunity, closed his doors to his popular St Louis restaurant, packed his bags and came to the motherland to bless Ghana in March 2022 with the opening of a roof top restaurant in Oyarifa Mall, Accra.

From opening the glass doors you are greeted with a room design with carved wooden tables and chairs fit for Kings and Queens. Looking for fresh air then you will not be disappointed in the ambience of outdoor dining with panoramic views of Aburi mountains.

I’m sure you will not be disappointed – a new taste bud for locals and Diaspora from around the world eating dishes that incorporate Caribbean flavours. After scanning through the menu, I opted for the Buju bowl (Rice and Peas, vegetables, chickpeas) with salmon, salad, mac & cheese, mash potato, and a flavoured sugar cane juice. The food tasted so delicious.

The food came in abundance – eyes bigger than belly so I had to pack a take-away of the leftovers. I did not care, because the next day I also – ‘Happy Myself’

A delicious meal and catch up with friend Sauda who made me a vegan mango cheese cake. (blog post coming soon). We did not want the cake to melt so thank you to Jan the manager for securing the cake in the fridge. For your vegan delights contact Sauda of Akosua Sacred Scents on (00233) 057 144 9039

Whilst we continued to chit chat we couldn’t resit moving around the roof top, as so many opportunities to take nice pictures overlooking the mountain views, wood and artwork.  Loved the art creation by Kingsley Deffar @deffartgh of Bob Marley that I went a bit crazy with the selfies.

Jerk Soul is open from 2pm-10pm (closed Saturday), roof top Oyarifa Mall, 025 622 0051. Eat in or Dine Out. Oh and don’t leave without having a swing – looking like a master piece but irresistible to sit on.

Bless Sister E
