Looted gold artefacts by the British returned to Asante King Otumfuo Osei Tutu 11 – after 150 years. The 32 artifacts will be on display at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi from May 2024. Articles: The African Report, BBC News Africa.

I had the privilege of meeting historian Ivor Agyemang-Duah at a British High Commission event in Ghana. He is the technical advior to the Asantehene council and assisted to coordinate the return of the artefacts.

His book – A History of Manhyia Palace Museum will be launched in May to coincide with the museum reopening.

Main questions asked

Why only 32 artefacts ?

Why did Asantehene agree to 6 year loan ?

Will they be returned after 6 years?

It was a very interesting event. What are your thoughts about the looted artefacts.
